The Opportunity:
As the Director of Music, you will lead and develop the Music department within a dynamic and highly regarded performing arts provision. This role is ideal for an inspiring and forward-thinking leader who is passionate about making music a central part of the school experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Music department, shaping a bold and inclusive vision for music education.
- Nurture musical talent at all levels, ensuring opportunities for participation, performance, and excellence.
- Inspire students of all abilities, from beginners to accomplished musicians.
- Foster a culture where music is a visible and valued part of daily school life.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate music across the curriculum.
- Promote and support extracurricular music activities and events.
- Ensure that music is accessible, challenging, and meaningful for every student.
- Work with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning in music.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a music department within an educational setting.
- Strong teaching and performance experience in music.
- A commitment to inclusive and accessible music education.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in music or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience in leading and developing performing arts provision.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment in music.
- Familiarity with music technology and digital resources.
- Experience in working with girls’ schools or independent educational institutions.
