The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons that inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
  • Support the development of a curriculum that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and continuously improve teaching and learning.
  • Take on leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and guiding other members of the department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and intervention where needed.
  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and community engagement.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching strategies into lessons.
  • Contribute to the school’s mission and values by fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Commitment to student well-being, achievement, and personal development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a school setting.
  • Track record of achieving high student outcomes and engagement.
  • Experience with leading or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with Catholic education values and ethos.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or similar.
