The Opportunity:

A Teacher of Music - Maternity Cover is required to join a dynamic and successful department. This role offers the chance to inspire students, deliver high-quality lessons, and contribute to the development of the music curriculum. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping student learning and progress at Key Stage 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor and assess student progress using a range of strategies and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages student motivation and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum planning in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Support students’ personal development as a tutor and role model, promoting high standards of behaviour and attendance.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and carers, and contribute to school events and enrichment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A degree in Music or a related subject
  • Experience teaching Music at Key Stage 3
  • Strong classroom practice and behaviour management skills
  • Secure understanding of curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Involvement in extra-curricular music activities
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Knowledge of music technology
