The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to create a positive, nurturing environment where children feel safe, engaged and ready to learn. Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils in the classroom and through targeted interventions to help them develop confidence, independence and essential skills.
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons, managing classroom activities and promoting positive behaviour.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to foster a supportive learning community.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, providing valuable insights to the teaching team.
- Implement strategies to support the emotional and social development of pupils.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a consistent and inclusive approach to learning and behaviour.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe and welcoming environment for all pupils.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children or young people.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH or ASD.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and relational approaches.
- Experience within a specialist school or SEND setting.
