A school located in Loughborough near the university, specialising in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. All staff are therapeutically trained and experienced in working with neurodivergent learners.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a dynamic and impactful role that requires dedication, resilience, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning through individual and group sessions
  • Manage classroom resources and maintain a safe and engaging learning environment
  • Assist with educational trips and visits, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for students
  • Build positive relationships with students by having lunch and participating in social activities
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support students during heightened emotional states
  • Create and deliver games and activities that enhance social and academic skills
  • Design and maintain displays that support learning and create an inspiring environment
  • Reflect on challenging situations through therapeutic training and supervision sessions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good basic understanding of English and Maths
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Preferred

  • Experience in therapeutic or educational support settings
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent conditions
  • Previous experience in a school or similar educational environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
