The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a dynamic and impactful role that requires dedication, resilience, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning through individual and group sessions
- Manage classroom resources and maintain a safe and engaging learning environment
- Assist with educational trips and visits, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for students
- Build positive relationships with students by having lunch and participating in social activities
- Implement behaviour management strategies to support students during heightened emotional states
- Create and deliver games and activities that enhance social and academic skills
- Design and maintain displays that support learning and create an inspiring environment
- Reflect on challenging situations through therapeutic training and supervision sessions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good basic understanding of English and Maths
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and consistency
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Preferred
- Experience in therapeutic or educational support settings
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent conditions
- Previous experience in a school or similar educational environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
