The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspiring Art Teacher to join our team on a 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover). This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs, delivering creative and engaging lessons that support their learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality art lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs
  • Adapt teaching methods to ensure all pupils can access and benefit from the curriculum
  • Support the development of students’ creative skills and self-expression
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning experiences
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the school’s curriculum using the TIS approach
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to support their learning journey

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher or unqualified teacher with relevant experience
  • Experience of working with students with special educational needs, including autism
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment

Preferred

  • Experience of using the TIS approach in teaching
  • Background in art or design
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviours in a classroom setting
  • Passion for supporting students with complex needs
