The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspiring Art Teacher to join our team on a 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover). This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs, delivering creative and engaging lessons that support their learning and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality art lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs
- Adapt teaching methods to ensure all pupils can access and benefit from the curriculum
- Support the development of students’ creative skills and self-expression
- Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment
- Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning experiences
- Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the school’s curriculum using the TIS approach
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to support their learning journey
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher or unqualified teacher with relevant experience
- Experience of working with students with special educational needs, including autism
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment
Preferred
- Experience of using the TIS approach in teaching
- Background in art or design
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours in a classroom setting
- Passion for supporting students with complex needs
