The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting student attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, while contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment. This role is essential to ensuring students remain engaged and supported throughout their academic journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Late Gate, signing students into school and issuing detentions where required.
- Monitor lesson lateness and issue detentions in line with school policy.
- Support register checking and make absence calls alongside the Attendance Team.
- Accurately log absences, appointments, trips, off-timetable days, and other attendance data.
- Support and attend ‘Back to school’ meetings for students from Years 7-11 on return to school from an absence.
- Monitor the attendance inbox and phone, responding or escalating as appropriate.
- Track daily truancy and book students into reflection when required.
- Support the Attendance Team in conducting Attendance Support Plan Meetings with students and their families.
- Monitor classroom removals in support of the Pastoral Team.
- Roam the school site when necessary to check classrooms for missing pupils or removals.
- Maintain accurate records in line with school systems and procedures.
- Undertake general administrative duties as required to support the Attendance and Pastoral Teams.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency and effective communication.
- Follow all school policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Child Protection, Behaviour and Inclusion.
- Make appropriate use of data, analysis and monitoring of the impact of attendance interventions.
- Ensure accurate record keeping.
- Use agreed computer programmes to report, monitor and assess pupil progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong organisational and IT administrative skills.
- Confident verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work calmly and professionally with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage priorities in a busy environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or education setting.
- Familiarity with school MIS systems.
- Understanding of attendance, punctuality, and behaviour processes.
