The Opportunity:
As a History Lead Practitioner, you will play a key role in shaping the history curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is an opportunity to lead and inspire both students and colleagues, contributing to whole-school initiatives and driving academic excellence in history education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the history curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards of teaching and learning.
- Support and mentor other history teachers to enhance departmental performance and professional growth.
- Deliver high-quality lessons that engage students and promote critical thinking and historical understanding.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate history into cross-curricular initiatives.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide strategies and initiatives that enhance student achievement and learning outcomes.
- Participate in professional development and stay up to date with current pedagogical practices and historical research.
- Represent the history department in meetings, inspections, and external events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in secondary history education.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
- Strong knowledge of the history curriculum at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student achievement and pastoral care.
- Experience in developing and delivering high-quality teaching and learning strategies.
Preferred
- Experience in leading whole-school initiatives or curriculum development.
- Experience with data analysis and student progress tracking.
- Experience in teaching A-Level history or equivalent.
- Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and integration.
