Attendance Officer role with a focus on improving student attendance and reducing persistent absence.

The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in promoting whole-school attendance strategies and ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures. This role is essential in helping students maximise their potential through consistent attendance and reducing persistent absence in line with academy targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct home visits and late gate patrols to support attendance improvement.
  • Implement and monitor whole-school strategies to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence.
  • Liaise with a range of agencies and the academy to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide strategic, operational, and administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Build effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including students and parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in standard ICT packages, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to work effectively in difficult situations.
  • Ability to remain professional when dealing with conflict.
  • A satisfactory DBS check.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school environment or attendance-related role.
  • Experience using CMIS or SIMS software.
