The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Biology Teacher to join a dynamic and collaborative Science Department. This role offers the chance to teach across the full age range and contribute to a department with a strong record of academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons with a clear focus on pupil progress.
- Use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to support and extend student learning.
- Set expectations and pace of work that challenge all pupils appropriately.
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and attainment regularly.
- Create and maintain a stimulating, safe, and purposeful learning environment.
- Manage pupil behavior fairly and consistently, using appropriate rewards and sanctions.
- Support pupils’ personal and social development through pastoral duties and form tutoring.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the Science curriculum, including extra-curricular activities.
- Uphold and support all school policies and contribute to the school’s ethos and values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree in a relevant discipline.
- PGCE/PGDE qualification.
- GTCS registration.
- PVG (Disclosure Scotland) membership.
- Proven experience of teaching at secondary level.
- Experience teaching across the full age and ability range of secondary education.
- Experience or understanding of pastoral support.
- Ability to use ICT in the classroom effectively.
Preferred
- Experience with the IB curriculum.
- Experience as a form tutor.
- Experience in a boarding environment.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Skills and experience to contribute to extra-curricular activities.
