The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Biology Teacher to join a dynamic and collaborative Science Department. This role offers the chance to teach across the full age range and contribute to a department with a strong record of academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons with a clear focus on pupil progress.
  • Use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to support and extend student learning.
  • Set expectations and pace of work that challenge all pupils appropriately.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and attainment regularly.
  • Create and maintain a stimulating, safe, and purposeful learning environment.
  • Manage pupil behavior fairly and consistently, using appropriate rewards and sanctions.
  • Support pupils’ personal and social development through pastoral duties and form tutoring.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the Science curriculum, including extra-curricular activities.
  • Uphold and support all school policies and contribute to the school’s ethos and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • PGCE/PGDE qualification.
  • GTCS registration.
  • PVG (Disclosure Scotland) membership.
  • Proven experience of teaching at secondary level.
  • Experience teaching across the full age and ability range of secondary education.
  • Experience or understanding of pastoral support.
  • Ability to use ICT in the classroom effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience with the IB curriculum.
  • Experience as a form tutor.
  • Experience in a boarding environment.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Skills and experience to contribute to extra-curricular activities.
