The Opportunity:

As a Custodian (Security Officer), you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. This position is essential for maintaining a welcoming and secure environment across multiple sites within the school group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors at all times.
  • Operate and monitor CCTV systems and manage electronic access control.
  • Provide a professional and friendly reception service to all visitors.
  • Support the school during events, ensuring smooth operations and safety.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and alarm activations.
  • Manage parking and post operations efficiently.
  • Assist with key distribution and access control procedures.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A valid security or related qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • A clean criminal record and willingness to undergo full child protection screening.
  • Experience in a security or custodial role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with CCTV systems and access control technologies.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • First aid or emergency response training.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual salary of £27,164.80 plus an on-call allowance of £1,606.42.
  • Flexible working hours with a 5-day rota (including evenings and weekends).
  • Opportunities for on-call shifts and weekend off based on school requirements.
