The Opportunity:

As a Deputy English Curriculum Leader, you will support the Head of Department in leading the English curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4. This role is pivotal in driving high standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes, while contributing to the school’s overall vision and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department in developing and implementing a high-quality English curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices to ensure consistent standards across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Lead and manage the planning, delivery, and assessment of English lessons.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of whole-school strategies and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and students to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to student achievement.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in English curriculum leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of teachers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in driving improvements in teaching and learning outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education and supporting vulnerable students.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of current educational trends and best practices.
