The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head Academic, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of a school committed to excellence. This is an opportunity to lead with vision and inspire a team dedicated to delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning for students aged 13 to 18.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and diverse curriculum across all key stages.
- Collaborate closely with the Headmaster and senior leadership team to ensure academic standards are consistently high.
- Support and inspire teaching staff through professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee key academic functions including timetabling, examinations, reporting, and academic tracking.
- Promote a culture of excellence, curiosity, and achievement across all aspects of the school.
- Work closely with Heads of Department, Housemasters, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure the academic needs of all students are met, with a focus on pupil progress and well-being.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral care and community engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in academic leadership within an educational institution.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and staff development.
- Experience in managing and leading teams within a school environment.
- A deep understanding of curriculum development and delivery.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role within a co-educational boarding school.
- A background in teaching and a willingness to take on a reduced teaching timetable.
- Familiarity with assessment and reporting systems.
- Experience in fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
