The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head Academic, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of a school committed to excellence. This is an opportunity to lead with vision and inspire a team dedicated to delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning for students aged 13 to 18.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and diverse curriculum across all key stages.
  • Collaborate closely with the Headmaster and senior leadership team to ensure academic standards are consistently high.
  • Support and inspire teaching staff through professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee key academic functions including timetabling, examinations, reporting, and academic tracking.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, curiosity, and achievement across all aspects of the school.
  • Work closely with Heads of Department, Housemasters, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Ensure the academic needs of all students are met, with a focus on pupil progress and well-being.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral care and community engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in academic leadership within an educational institution.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and staff development.
  • Experience in managing and leading teams within a school environment.
  • A deep understanding of curriculum development and delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a co-educational boarding school.
  • A background in teaching and a willingness to take on a reduced teaching timetable.
  • Familiarity with assessment and reporting systems.
  • Experience in fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
