The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Head of Boarding and Art Teacher to play a key role in shaping a supportive and inspiring boarding community. This position combines leadership in boarding operations with teaching responsibilities in Design and Technology and Art. The role requires a passionate, proactive individual who is committed to student development and the school’s vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Head of Boarding in managing the Boarding House, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all boarders
- Oversee the planning and delivery of weekend activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh programme
- Manage staffing and operational requirements during the Head of Boarding’s absence
- Coordinate transportation, health and safety, and wellbeing initiatives for boarders
- Promote a culture of leadership and development within the Boarding House
- Support academic and pastoral care needs through collaboration with day school staff
- Maintain strong communication and relationships with parents and stakeholders
- Ensure boarders receive appropriate medical care and follow all health and safety procedures
- Deliver high-quality teaching in Design and Technology and Art, as required
- Participate in CCA activities and support student engagement and development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a middle leadership role
- Previous experience working in a Boarding House
- First-Aid qualification
Preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in programme planning and event coordination
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills
