The Opportunity:

As a SENDCO, you will lead the school’s inclusion strategy and ensure all students receive tailored support. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create a welcoming and equitable learning environment for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of the school’s SEND Framework.
  • Ensure inclusive principles are embedded in curriculum design, assessment, and co-curricular activities.
  • Coordinate support for pupils with special educational needs, gifted and talented students, and those with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Manage the SEND budget and allocate resources for specialist support, training, and technologies.
  • Oversee identification, assessment, and intervention processes for students with additional needs.
  • Coordinate transitions between year groups and phases to ensure continuity of support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with best practice and legal requirements.
  • Train staff in early identification of learning needs and provide guidance on differentiated instruction.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • Recognised SENDCO qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role within SEND provision.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing IEPs and managing Exam Access Arrangements.
  • Familiarity with JCQ regulations and international school examination requirements.

Preferred

  • International or bilingual school experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin.
  • Training in safeguarding (Level 3), mental health first aid, and/or autism spectrum specialist training.
