Deputy Headteacher opportunity at a special school for boys with SEMH needs.
About the School:
A school dedicated to supporting boys aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school prioritises holistic development and provides extensive therapeutic training and support for all staff.
The Opportunity:
As a Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s direction and culture. This is a leadership position that requires vision, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to supporting students with complex needs. You will work closely with senior leaders and be responsible for Behaviour and Attitudes, Attendance, and curriculum quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development ofBehaviour and Attitudes strategies across the school.
- Oversee and contribute to the implementation of a creative and academically engaging curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher, Regional Executive Head Teacher, and specialist teams to drive school improvement.
- Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff and support teams.
- Ensure the school maintains high standards of education and student welfare.
- Engage with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals to support student outcomes.
- Manage challenging behaviours and support students with SEMH and attachment difficulties.
- Deliver teaching within a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
- Strong communication and emotional intelligence skills.
- Ability to teach a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
- Experience managing challenging behaviours and working with students with SEMH difficulties.
- Experience in implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum.
Preferred
- Experience of working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families.
- Experience in crisis management.
- Experience in leadership and team management within a school setting.
- Experience in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) contexts.
