Summary:

Director of Alternative Provision Pathway – lead impactful initiatives for vulnerable students.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Alternative Provision Pathway, you will lead and develop initiatives that support students facing challenging social circumstances. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people and contribute to a supportive, high-achieving educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of alternative provision initiatives for students at risk of or involved with the criminal justice system, exploitation, or substance misuse.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement targeted support strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of alternative provision programs to ensure they meet student needs and outcomes.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and academic progress.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff involved in alternative provision pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and legal requirements in all aspects of provision.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local community and statutory partners.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and enhancement of the school’s curriculum and support structures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in education, particularly in alternative provision or student support roles.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies for supporting vulnerable students.
  • Experience in managing and delivering complex educational interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students involved with the criminal justice system or at risk of exploitation.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in curriculum development or programme design.
  • Familiarity with the Marches Academy Trust or similar educational organizations.
