The Opportunity:
As a Director of Finance, you will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight to ensure the school’s financial health and sustainability. You will work closely with the Headmaster and the Board of Governors to manage budgets, drive financial planning, and support the school’s mission of delivering a world-class education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial operations, including budget management, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the school’s strategic goals.
- Manage external Service Level Agreements and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders, including the Board of Governors.
- Support the Headmaster in making informed financial decisions that impact the school’s long-term success.
- Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and financial efficiencies.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial records and reports.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- A recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA).
- 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3–5 years at a senior leadership level.
- Proven experience managing complex budgets and driving commercial negotiations.
- Experience in the education sector is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to manage cross-functional teams and communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience working in international or multicultural environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in financial planning and strategic decision-making.
- Proficiency in modern financial management software and ERP systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive discussions with parents and stakeholders.
