The Opportunity:

As an EAL Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students' English language development across all age phases. You will collaborate with mainstream teachers and lead training, ensuring a strong foundation in language learning from primary through to senior levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in developing their English language skills across the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with mainstream teachers to integrate EAL strategies into lesson planning and delivery.
  • Lead and deliver staff training on EAL best practices and second language acquisition.
  • Apply assessment for learning techniques to monitor student progress.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of EAL strategies across the school.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Promote and support the school’s extra-curricular activities that enhance student development.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working within the school’s curriculum and structures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with an entry-level TESOL qualification.
  • Experience teaching EAL within mainstream curriculums.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in an international school setting.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language.
  • Background in Second Language Teacher Education.
  • Experience with assessment for learning strategies.
  • Demonstrated involvement in extra-curricular activities.
