The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher - Middle School, you will play a key role in shaping young minds and fostering a love of literature and language. You will deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills in line with the UK National Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the UK National Curriculum for Key Stage 3.
  • Develop students’ literacy, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and academic challenge.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student achievement, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with school policies and safeguarding expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding academic progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, moderation, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Promote students’ social-emotional development and model the school’s core values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field with recognised Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience, preferably within an international British-curriculum context.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature aligned with the UK National Curriculum for KS3.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, student-centred lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
  • Skilled in positive classroom management that promotes respect, responsibility, and a culture of learning.
  • Experience using formative and summative assessment to drive student progress and attainment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, leadership, students, and families.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Familiarity with international education standards and best practices.
  • Experience in curriculum development and moderation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and social-emotional learning.
