As a Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the school’s financial operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bank transactions, including cash deposits and Banklines.
  • Manage petty cash reconciliations, including foreign currency, and arrange top-ups as required.
  • Reconcile and post company credit card transactions.
  • Assist with accounts payable duties, including scanning invoices and processing Direct Debit transactions.
  • Post financial journals and allocate catering costs.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Manage the accounts email inbox and respond professionally to enquiries.
  • Review and process employee expense claims in accordance with school policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Basic understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Willingness to gain or continue working toward an accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACA, ACCA).
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a finance or administrative role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial systems.
  • Experience with VAT regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Knowledge of school finance processes and systems.
