About the School:
A school dedicated to supporting autistic young people aged 11-16, providing a safe and inclusive environment to help students grow and thrive.
The Opportunity:
As a Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the education and development of students on the autism spectrum. You will lead a small class of up to eight students, working closely with a Learning Support Assistant to deliver high-quality, individualised teaching. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and innovative school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured and engaging lessons tailored to the needs of autistic students.
- Manage and support a small class with the assistance of a Learning Support Assistant.
- Plan and record student progress systematically using appropriate teaching approaches.
- Provide pastoral support, including parent communication and report writing.
- Attend and contribute to EHCP reviews and other relevant meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and development.
- Use ICT tools effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
- Support students in developing independence and confidence.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree-level qualification and a valid teaching qualification.
- Experience in teaching and supporting students with special educational needs, particularly those with autism.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience with systematic teaching approaches for students on the autism spectrum.
- Experience with ICT tools in an educational setting.
- Experience in pastoral care and student support.
- Experience with EHCP processes and reviews.
