About the School:

A school dedicated to supporting autistic young people aged 11-16, providing a safe and inclusive environment to help students grow and thrive.

The Opportunity:

As a Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the education and development of students on the autism spectrum. You will lead a small class of up to eight students, working closely with a Learning Support Assistant to deliver high-quality, individualised teaching. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and innovative school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured and engaging lessons tailored to the needs of autistic students.
  • Manage and support a small class with the assistance of a Learning Support Assistant.
  • Plan and record student progress systematically using appropriate teaching approaches.
  • Provide pastoral support, including parent communication and report writing.
  • Attend and contribute to EHCP reviews and other relevant meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and development.
  • Use ICT tools effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Support students in developing independence and confidence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level qualification and a valid teaching qualification.
  • Experience in teaching and supporting students with special educational needs, particularly those with autism.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience with systematic teaching approaches for students on the autism spectrum.
  • Experience with ICT tools in an educational setting.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support.
  • Experience with EHCP processes and reviews.
