The Opportunity:
A Higher-Level Teaching Assistant is needed to support students with autism spectrum conditions in a dynamic and growing school. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with autism in a structured and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of individualized learning activities.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent and effective student support.
- Monitor and record student progress and behavior regularly.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to student needs.
- Help create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with parents and carers to support student development and well-being.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant.
- In-depth knowledge of special educational needs, particularly autism spectrum conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school setting with autistic students.
- Familiarity with behaviour management strategies for students with complex needs.
- Experience with inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and its use in special education.
