Higher-Level Teaching Assistant needed at a new SEN school for autistic students.

The Opportunity:

A Higher-Level Teaching Assistant is needed to support students with autism spectrum conditions in a dynamic and growing school. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with autism in a structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of individualized learning activities.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent and effective student support.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior regularly.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to student needs.
  • Help create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with parents and carers to support student development and well-being.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant.
  • In-depth knowledge of special educational needs, particularly autism spectrum conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school setting with autistic students.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and its use in special education.
