Summary:

Governors Clerk needed to support effective governance in a dynamic educational trust.

The Opportunity:

As a Governors Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting the Local Governing Bodies to ensure effective governance across multiple schools. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a school environment that values excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on governance, legislation, and procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate, timely agendas for meetings.
  • Take detailed and professional minutes of all meetings.
  • Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Support decision-making processes and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of governance policies.
  • Liaise with school leadership and governors to ensure alignment with trust objectives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices across the trust.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a governance or administrative role, preferably within education.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of governance procedures and legislation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Experience in preparing and managing meeting agendas and minutes.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
  • Familiarity with educational standards and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in supporting school improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the role of governors in school leadership.
