The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology Department, you will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in design technology. This role is pivotal in shaping the curriculum, supporting staff development, and ensuring a vibrant learning environment that reflects the school’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead high-quality teaching and learning in the design technology curriculum.
  • Develop and implement professional learning opportunities for staff.
  • Ensure teaching and learning practices align with best practice and school standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
  • Oversee curriculum planning and ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across departments.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum resources and subject rubrics.
  • Manage and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Coordinate external exam entries and ensure accurate administration.
  • Lead curriculum development plans and manage departmental budgets.
  • Support and mentor staff while promoting a positive and collaborative work culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications and substantial experience in design technology education.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design and pedagogical best practices.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Experience in assessment and data analysis for learning.
  • Commitment to professional learning and continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading academic enrichment and competition programs.
  • Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE or IB.
  • Experience in managing and developing departmental resources and budgets.
  • Strong understanding of student diversity and cultural sensitivity.
