The Opportunity:

The Head of Humanities will lead a dynamic faculty focused on delivering high-quality education and supporting student success. This role offers the chance to shape a new department and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the teaching and leadership of Geography, with a focus on GCSE and A Level outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and progression.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders and teachers across the Unity Schools Partnership.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and whole-child development.
  • Support and mentor staff within the faculty.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s vision and values in all aspects of leadership.
  • Engage with the wider community and build strong partnerships.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Humanities, ideally with a specialism in Geography.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably as a Head of Department.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and academic achievement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a faculty or department within a multi-academy trust.
  • Familiarity with the Unity Schools Partnership and its values.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience in leading professional development for staff.
