The Opportunity:

As the Head of Modern Foreign Languages, you will play a key role in shaping the language learning experience for pupils, inspiring them to achieve excellence and contribute to the school’s dynamic community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to students across a range of age groups.
  • Inspire and motivate pupils to achieve their full potential in language learning.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school, including pastoral support and extra-curricular activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s academic and cultural offering.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum.
  • Manage a teaching schedule of approximately 36 periods per fortnight.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Head of Department or in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Commitment to the holistic development of students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the school’s mission and values.

Preferred

  • Experience in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
  • Leadership experience in a large or multi-lingual department.
  • Knowledge of international education and global outlooks.
  • Familiarity with co-curricular and pastoral support systems.
