The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of RE to lead a thriving department that plays a central role in the school’s academic and spiritual life. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and passionate RE practitioner to shape curriculum delivery and support student achievement, while contributing to the school’s Catholic mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Develop and implement a coherent and challenging curriculum aligned with the Religious Education Directory and GCSE specifications.
- Support and mentor staff within the department to enhance teaching standards and student attainment.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to promote the school’s Catholic vision and ethos.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all students achieve their full potential in RE.
- Engage with students, parents, and the wider school community to promote the importance of RE.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of Catholic Life events and initiatives.
- Ensure that all teaching and learning practices reflect the school’s values and mission.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching RE to all abilities across Key Stage 3 and 4 for at least 3 years.
- Strong understanding of the GCSE specification and the Religious Education Directory.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality teaching and support student progress.
- Commitment to the Catholic faith and willing to uphold the school’s ethos and values.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the school’s leadership.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and leadership within a school setting.
- Knowledge of Catholic education and the role of RE in fostering spiritual development.
- Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Leadership experience within a department or team setting.
