The Opportunity:

The Head of Technology Faculty will lead and inspire a dynamic department, ensuring students receive a high-quality education in Technology. This role is central to shaping the curriculum and driving excellence in teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Technology Faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a stimulating and challenging curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Oversee the use of specialist facilities, including food rooms, design classrooms, and art studios.
  • Support the professional development of staff within the Technology department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to student learning.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and excellence in Technology education.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of all resources and equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a Technology department in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Technology, including Food Preparation and Nutrition, 3D Design, and Textile Design.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing specialist facilities and equipment.
  • Knowledge of assessment and monitoring strategies in Technology education.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar collaborative structure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
