Higher Level Teaching Assistant required for a supportive and dynamic school environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will cover for staff absence and provide valuable support during classroom activities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and eager to make a positive impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers with administrative and organisational tasks, including preparing resources and displays.
  • Plan and lead group work to support pupil learning and engagement.
  • Support pupils in 1-2-1 reading sessions to enhance literacy development.
  • Supervise play areas and ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during break times.
  • Maintain accurate records and assessments to support pupil progress tracking.
  • Provide cover for classroom and other professional duties, including start/end of day supervision, registration, and break/lunchtime supervision.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to deliver a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school through proactive and flexible support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in a cover role.
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, enthusiastic nature.
  • Good standard of education, including English and Maths qualifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in providing 1-2-1 reading support.
  • Familiarity with teaching and learning technologies.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student supervision.
  • Previous experience in a co-educational or independent school setting.
