Summary:

Learning and Skills Tutor role with a focus on SEND learners in a supportive and inclusive environment.

A school dedicated to providing person-centred education and support for young people with Education, Health and Care Plans, helping them develop the skills needed for independent living and future employment.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning and Skills Tutor, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and inclusive learning programmes for young people aged 16–25 with SEND. This is a dynamic and impactful position that allows you to make a real difference in the lives of learners, helping them build confidence, independence and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver creative and engaging learning sessions across classroom, workplace and community settings
  • Plan and implement personalised learning programmes tailored to individual learner needs
  • Assess learner progress, set realistic targets, and maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
  • Use person-centred teaching approaches to support learners in developing independence and confidence
  • Provide regular feedback to learners and adapt learning to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues, employers and partner organisations to support learners’ progression
  • Encourage attendance and engagement in learning activities
  • Support learners on their journey towards employment through traineeships, internships and work experience

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, Cert Ed)
  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
  • Level 2 ICT qualification or equivalent competence
  • Experience working in education or learning environments, ideally with learners with SEND/SEMH and EHCPs
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage risk when supporting learners with complex needs
  • Confidence using IT systems

Preferred

  • Higher-level teaching qualification
  • Experience of post-16 SEND provision or Ofsted requirements
  • Knowledge of Life Skills, Personal Development, Creative and Digital Media, Digital Skills and Technology, and Practical and Vocational Skills
