The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students from Reception to Year 6, particularly those with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and the Head of Learning Enhancement to deliver tailored support that maximises student progress and learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning of students in a year group from Reception to Year 6, with a focus on those with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the Head of Learning Enhancement to plan and deliver high-quality, adaptive teaching.
  • Lead 1:1 or small group interventions to support speech and language, literacy, numeracy, fine motor skills, and study skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular updates to the teaching team.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans to meet the needs of each student.
  • Work with parents and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to continuously improve support strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEN support strategies and interventions.
  • Experience with speech and language development or literacy support.
  • Flexibility to work term-time only and adapt to changing schedules.
