The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, including those with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD. You will work closely with teachers and the Enhanced Learning team to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion. This role requires a highly skilled and motivated individual who understands the importance of enabling, not over-supporting, students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a range of special educational needs in classroom, small group, and one-to-one settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the Enhanced Learning team to develop and implement individual support plans.
  • Promote student independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion through tailored support strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and development to relevant staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in a way that is discreet and effective.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and planning activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student support and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, including autism, dyslexia, and ADHD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Commitment to promoting student independence and well-being.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting or similar educational environment.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and techniques.
  • Experience with assistive technologies or learning support tools.
  • First aid or safeguarding training.
