The Opportunity:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school. This position offers the chance to lead and coordinate SEND provision within a house, ensuring students receive inclusive and personalised support that drives academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across an identified house, ensuring effective support for students with additional needs.
- Act as the key point of contact for SEND within the house, working closely with students, parents, and external professionals.
- Support staff in implementing strategies and interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Deliver small group teaching sessions that ensure access to the curriculum for students with Special Educational Needs.
- Provide supervision for whole classes, including cover supervision, to maintain continuity of learning.
- Collaborate with the House Team and Curriculum Team Leader – Learning Support to monitor and develop SEND provision.
- Promote the needs of students with SEND and champion inclusive practices across the school.
- Contribute to the development of individual education plans and support strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Strong understanding of effective approaches to support students with additional needs.
- Confidence and knowledge of the core school curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, calmness, integrity, and creativity.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership or coordination role within a school setting.
- Experience in SEND coordination or house leadership.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices and strategies.
- Experience in delivering small group teaching sessions.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £25,932.60 to £28,314.78 pro rata.
- 36 hours per week, term time only (38.2 weeks per year).
