The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Library Assistant to support the school’s reading for pleasure culture and help manage the School Library. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning experiences while working with a passionate and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise and manage centralised learning resources including books and other media
  • Assist students and supervise silent study sessions
  • Promote a studious, warm, and friendly environment in the Library
  • Work closely with the Librarian to ensure the Library is a welcoming and productive space
  • Encourage reading in young people and promote a love of learning
  • Provide administrative support to the Library and its operations
  • Maintain an up-to-date and well-ordered Library collection
  • Support the school’s broader educational goals through library services

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A keen and regular reader with a passion for encouraging reading in young people
  • Strong administrative skills and organisational abilities
  • A broad knowledge of books and literature that students might enjoy
  • Ability to create a warm and friendly environment in the Library
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting

Preferred

  • Experience in a library or educational support role
  • Knowledge of library management systems
  • Experience with promoting reading for pleasure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
