The Opportunity:

As a Housemistress, you will lead a team and be responsible for the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of students in a boarding community. This role is a key driver of pastoral care and strategic initiatives, offering a unique opportunity to shape the student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the welfare and academic progress of approximately 30 boarders across Years 5 to 11.
  • Lead and manage a dynamic boarding team, ensuring high standards of pastoral care and student support.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions and Marketing team on boarding recruitment and community engagement.
  • Develop and implement innovative boarding practices and initiatives that enhance student experience.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment, adhering to strict safeguarding and wellbeing standards.
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure a cohesive and positive school culture.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their personal and academic growth.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of boarding house routines, including supervision and communication with parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or boarding leadership role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take initiative.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or education with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Background in leadership development or strategic planning.
  • Experience with boarding house operations and student support systems.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with educational assessment and student progress tracking.
