The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our team and support the upkeep of our campus and grounds. This role involves addressing day-to-day maintenance issues, liaising with contractors, and assisting with ad-hoc requests. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive maintenance tasks across the school site and grounds.
  • Assist in supporting other homes in the community with maintenance needs.
  • Liaise with contractors and manage on-site works when required.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from management and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-kept environment for students and staff.
  • Support the school’s mission by ensuring all facilities are in excellent working condition.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver a consistent and high-quality service.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in a maintenance role or similar position.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • A thorough and methodical approach to work.
  • Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and provide references.

Preferred

  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or plastering.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and health and safety regulations.
  • Enthusiasm for DIY and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment.
