The Opportunity:

As a Management Accountant, you will support the school’s finance activities across multiple departments, including the Senior and Prep Schools, a letting company subsidiary, and a charity. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant who thrives in a dynamic and varied environment and is passionate about delivering accurate and timely financial support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly and termly management accounts.
  • Manage month-end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Monitor fee income, bursaries, and scholarships.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Handle VAT returns, compliance, and VAT recovery reviews.
  • Oversee payroll processing and support payroll operations.
  • Provide financial insights and support to budget holders and senior leaders for decision-making.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in management accounting and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Sound knowledge of VAT and compliance in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or charitable environment.
  • Familiarity with financial software and systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £40,000 – £45,000 per annum.
