The Opportunity:
As a Medical Lead and First Aider, you will play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors. This is a vital position that supports the school’s mission to provide a secure and caring environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the school medical room, ensuring it is clean, stocked, and safe.
- Supervise and organise first aid trained staff as required.
- Provide first aid to pupils, staff, and visitors, assessing injuries and taking appropriate action.
- Lead on first-aid arrangements, including conducting risk assessments and maintaining Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs).
- Oversee the secure storage and administration of medication in line with school policy and parental consent.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and treatments, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Support the school’s safeguarding and wellbeing policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students in a professional and compassionate manner.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good level of literacy and numeracy (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
- Willingness to complete necessary training, such as First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work autonomously.
- Strong communication skills with parents and staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
Preferred
- Experience in an educational setting or similar role.
- Familiarity with school management systems such as Arbor and Google Workspace.
