A school that provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD and associated difficulties. It uses a therapeutic approach, focusing on positive relationships and viewing all behaviour as communication.
The Opportunity:
As an ASC-SEMH Teacher (KS3/4), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs in a nurturing environment. This part-time, job share role offers the chance to work with small class sizes and make a tangible impact on individual progress. You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons and providing pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on supporting pupils with autism and complex needs.
- Deliver engaging and accessible lessons, including one afternoon per week of GCSE Citizenship.
- Work closely with a job share partner to ensure high-quality continuity and planning.
- Provide pastoral support and oversee individual progress, maintaining regular communication with parents and carers.
- Support the development of social, life, and independence skills through a therapeutic, relationship-based approach.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and ensure a holistic approach to their education.
- Reflect on practice and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the learning experience for pupils.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience of working with autistic children and young people in an education setting.
- Commitment to inclusive, relationship-centred practice.
- Self-motivated with a creative approach to curriculum delivery.
- Ability to support pupils with complex needs and understand the importance of positive relationships.
- Experience in teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Experience in delivering GCSE-level qualifications.
- Experience in pastoral support and student welfare.
- Experience in a special educational needs setting.
- Experience in a job share or collaborative teaching environment.
