Pastoral Lead role at a school with a focus on social, emotional and mental health needs.

The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Lead, you will provide leadership and support to pupils and colleagues, shaping a positive and inclusive school culture. This role offers the opportunity to influence pupil wellbeing, behaviour and personal development in a dynamic and impactful way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the pastoral team to ensure consistent, high-quality support for pupils
  • Promote and support positive behaviour and personal development across the school
  • Implement and model school policies and behaviour strategies effectively
  • Provide timely and flexible support to pupils and staff throughout the school day
  • Oversee and contribute to Positive Support Plans (PSPs) and Risk Assessments (RAs)
  • Act as on-call support for pupils with additional or complex needs
  • Monitor and analyse behaviour data, reporting trends and impact to senior leadership
  • Manage escalating behaviour in line with training and policy
  • Facilitate debriefs with pupils and staff to encourage reflection and improvement
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of all pupils

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with pupils with ASC, SEN and complex needs
  • Proven experience in delivering pastoral interventions and improving pupil outcomes
  • Previous pastoral leadership experience within a school setting
  • Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills
  • A calm, resilient and solution-focused approach

Preferred

  • Experience with behaviour management strategies and positive support planning
  • Experience working in a school following a 4-day working week model
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
