The Opportunity:

As Pastoral Manager, you will provide essential pastoral care and support to boarding students aged 12–17, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment. This role is critical to maintaining a positive and structured boarding experience, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent and compassionate pastoral care to support the everyday needs of boarding students.
  • Act in loco parentis, offering guidance, advice, and coaching to students residing in the boarding house.
  • Oversee and manage a team of Residential Supervisors, ensuring effective line management and team development.
  • Uphold and implement the College’s Code of Conduct and Behaviour Policy within the boarding environment.
  • Promote a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all students and staff as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person.
  • Support the College’s safeguarding responsibilities and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of students and the team during the fixed-term programme.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people, ideally aged 12–17.
  • Experience in roles involving safeguarding and/or boarding responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Commitment to upholding a safe and supportive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Recent DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead/Person) certificate or willingness to complete the qualification with support from the College.
  • Experience in a residential or pastoral care setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding best practices.
