The Opportunity:

A Peripatetic Teacher of Singing is needed to support a vibrant music programme, delivering high-quality instruction in a variety of musical styles. This role offers the chance to inspire young musicians and contribute to a dynamic and successful department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring singing lessons to students across a range of musical styles.
  • Support the school’s ensembles, performances, and concerts, ensuring a high standard of musical output.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of repertoire and exam board requirements for grades and diplomas.
  • Work flexibly across term time, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Collaborate with the music department to enhance student learning and performance opportunities.
  • Provide individual and group tuition tailored to student needs and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the music curriculum.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in singing or a related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching singing, including knowledge of classical, contemporary, and musical theatre styles.
  • Strong understanding of exam board requirements for grades and diploma qualifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with peripatetic teaching and flexible working arrangements.
  • Experience in working with students of varying abilities and ages.
  • Experience with performance and ensemble work.
