The Opportunity:

As a Primary Phase Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the academic direction and success of the school. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning, ensuring that all students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement departmental strategies that align with the school’s vision and standards of achievement.
  • Use data to identify underperforming students and create targeted intervention plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum coverage and progression across all year groups, including SEN, EAL, and AG&T students.
  • Lead and manage a team of teachers, ensuring high standards of teaching and effective performance management.
  • Promote and deliver a wide range of extracurricular activities and parent engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure the efficient use of resources and budgets, while maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support early career teachers through mentorship and professional development.
  • Cover for absent staff and manage internal departmental cover effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor of Education Degree in equivalent field with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a middle leader (preferably Head of Year experience).
  • Experience of teaching the UK curriculum, including I/GCSE and I/A Level.

Preferred

  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
