The Opportunity:
As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the school, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for all visitors. You will support the smooth running of daily operations and contribute to the school’s mission of excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring they are greeted and directed appropriately.
- Safeguard students by verifying identification and issuing lanyards.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, parents, students, and the general public.
- Assist with student timetable enquiries and provide basic first aid when required.
- Manage postal duties, including sorting, recording, and franking outgoing mail.
- Oversee the collection and distribution of student letters and communication.
- Support the organisation of school trips and manage lost property.
- Reset fire alarms and liaise with staff in response to emergency situations.
- Operate the central switchboard and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
- Handle initial complaints and forward them to the relevant staff members when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Experience in a reception or front-of-house role.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of first aid procedures.
- Proficiency in using office software and online systems.
Preferred
- Experience in an educational setting or school environment.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems and emergency procedures.
- Experience with postal systems or mail management.
- Familiarity with school administration and organisational processes.
