The Opportunity:

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the school, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for all visitors. You will support the smooth running of daily operations and contribute to the school’s mission of excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring they are greeted and directed appropriately.
  • Safeguard students by verifying identification and issuing lanyards.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, parents, students, and the general public.
  • Assist with student timetable enquiries and provide basic first aid when required.
  • Manage postal duties, including sorting, recording, and franking outgoing mail.
  • Oversee the collection and distribution of student letters and communication.
  • Support the organisation of school trips and manage lost property.
  • Reset fire alarms and liaise with staff in response to emergency situations.
  • Operate the central switchboard and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Handle initial complaints and forward them to the relevant staff members when necessary.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience in a reception or front-of-house role.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid procedures.
  • Proficiency in using office software and online systems.

Preferred

  • Experience in an educational setting or school environment.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and emergency procedures.
  • Experience with postal systems or mail management.
  • Familiarity with school administration and organisational processes.
