The Opportunity:
As a School Business Manager, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for managing all non-teaching operations across the school. This role is essential in supporting the Headteacher and ensuring the smooth delivery of the school’s vision and mission, with a focus on effective leadership and strategic management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all non-teaching operations, including finance, HR, administration, premises, health & safety, ICT, procurement, and compliance.
- Lead HR processes, including recruitment, induction, appraisal, absence, payroll, and staff wellbeing.
- Develop and maintain administrative systems, ensuring strong communication and GDPR compliance.
- Provide expert financial and resource advice to the Headteacher and Governing Body.
- Support budget setting, financial monitoring, audit compliance, and reconciliation processes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the Governing Body, Ofsted, Local Authority, and other stakeholders.
- Lead on risk management and business continuity planning to ensure operational resilience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Professional qualification in business management or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Knowledge of HR processes, employment law, and staff development.
- Experience in premises, health & safety, and risk management.
- Understanding of financial processes, including budgeting, payroll, and procurement.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and ICT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPD, NEBOSH).
- Knowledge of education sector regulations and safeguarding requirements.
- Financial management experience.
