The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, and ASD in both the classroom and across the school. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of pupils, helping them achieve their full potential through personalized support, therapy programs, and enrichment activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SLD, PMLD, and ASD during lessons and across the school
  • Assist in delivering learning activities, therapy programs, and IEP targets
  • Help with personal and intimate care when required
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and independence
  • Support enrichment activities such as swimming, PE, community visits, and horse riding
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families, and therapists
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support pupil progress
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children or young people in a school, care, or youth work setting
  • Calm, patient, and a strong team player
  • Ability to work flexible hours and support a varied and challenging workload

Preferred

  • Experience working with children or young people with EHCPs or additional needs
  • Experience in SEN settings or with therapeutic interventions
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
