The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate Science Teacher to join our team on a maternity cover basis. This is a 12-month role starting in June 2026, offering a flexible and supportive environment for students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons using Quality First teaching strategies.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers, and participate in student-focused meetings.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles and practices.
  • Adapt teaching strategies based on assessment information and curriculum requirements.
  • Support students in managing complex behaviours in a structured and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care and education.
  • Participate in assessment procedures and special arrangements for students with SEN.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Science Teacher with relevant experience.
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Ability to manage complex behaviours and create a structured learning environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to working in a multi-disciplinary team approach.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching students with communication difficulties or complex needs.
  • Background in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Familiarity with national curriculum assessment procedures and special arrangements.
  • Proactive and dynamic approach to teaching and student support.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £19,749.60 - £27,211.20 per annum.
