As an SEN Teacher on maternity cover, you will support students with complex needs in a nurturing and structured environment. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working as part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with Semi-Formal curriculum pathways
  • Design tailored learning resources that promote curiosity and participation
  • Create structured, stimulating classroom environments that encourage independence
  • Support pupil progress and wellbeing in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding provision
  • Develop and share specialist knowledge in teaching pupils with autism and complex needs
  • Adapt lessons and approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • UK QTS (or equivalent) with a relevant degree
  • Strong understanding of SEN, including autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have faced challenges
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils on Semi-Formal curriculum pathways
  • Experience with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL) or similar
  • Previous experience in a specialist SEN setting
