The Opportunity:

As SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting some of the school's most vulnerable students by coordinating assessments and additional support. This is a pivotal role that directly influences the academic and personal development of students with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the identification, assessment, and support of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure individualized support plans are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND and provide regular reports to the senior leadership team.
  • Develop and deliver training for staff on SEND-related issues and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies related to SEN support.
  • Support the implementation of inclusive practices across the school.
  • Liaise with external professionals to ensure students receive holistic support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Relevant SEND qualifications and experience
  • Experience of working in an Alternative Provision or Specialist setting
  • Ability to manage and coordinate support for students with complex needs

Preferred

  • Experience of teaching a variety of subjects
  • Ongoing training in SEND-related areas
  • Experience in developing and delivering staff training
