The Opportunity:
As SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting some of the school's most vulnerable students by coordinating assessments and additional support. This is a pivotal role that directly influences the academic and personal development of students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the identification, assessment, and support of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure individualized support plans are implemented effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND and provide regular reports to the senior leadership team.
- Develop and deliver training for staff on SEND-related issues and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies related to SEN support.
- Support the implementation of inclusive practices across the school.
- Liaise with external professionals to ensure students receive holistic support.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Relevant SEND qualifications and experience
- Experience of working in an Alternative Provision or Specialist setting
- Ability to manage and coordinate support for students with complex needs
Preferred
- Experience of teaching a variety of subjects
- Ongoing training in SEND-related areas
- Experience in developing and delivering staff training
